Letter: Ruling will help fill election coffers

The Columbian
Published: April 8, 2014, 5:00pm

Back in the olden days (last week), politicians needed to spend all of their free time dialing for dollars in order to raise cash for the next election cycle. Now, thanks to the recent Supreme Court ruling (McCutcheon vs. FEC), they only need approach a couple of oligarchs such as the ultra conservative Koch brothers to fill their electioneering needs. If that is not sufficient, they can go to BP or Samsung or Chevron (since corporations have the same rights as you and I) to raise whatever funds they want to ensure re-election.

Great news for politicians. They are now free to do what they are paid to do.
