CHEHALIS — A small plane has crashed Tuesday evening near the Chehalis-Centralia Airport in southwest Washington.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the plane came down in a parking lot, where some nearby cars caught fire. Kenitzer says local authorities say only the pilot was aboard the plane. That person’s status was not immediately clear.
The crash happened about 7 p.m. on the east side of Interstate 5.
Both the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA will investigate.
