The sixth annual Friends of the Free Clinic Holiday Ball raised $209,855 for the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington on Dec. 6 at the Heathman Lodge.

More than 250 people attended the gala. Funds were raised throughout the evening, with a wine wall and jewelry auction, raffle, and a paddle raise. The master of ceremonies was Mark Matthias, owner of Beaches restaurants. Numerous large and small local businesses helped sponsor the event.

The event honored Free Clinic co-founder Dr. Sam Beall, who died in 2010. “Dr. Beall could be called the Free Clinic’s first physician. He and Father Edward Rankin opened the first free clinic in 1990,” said board president Todd Horenstein. “Having the Beall family there made it a very special evening.”

The 2015 Holiday Ball is already scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5. Call 360-313-1388 for sponsorship information or write toni@freeclinics.org.
