State health officials have suspended the license of Kooyeoll K. “Eric” Jung, a Clark County acupuncturist charged with second-degree rape.

State Department of Health officials on Monday suspended Jung’s East Asian medicine practitioner license after he was criminally charged with rape. He cannot practice in the state until the charges against his license are resolved. Jung has 20 days to request a hearing to contest the suspension.

Jung, 54, of Camas appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Oct. 31 on suspicion of second-degree rape, indecent liberties and unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned on the charges Nov. 7 and was released from jail after posting bond.

Jung is accused of raping a 51-year-old patient Sept. 12 inside a treatment room at his acupuncture office, 201 S.E. 124th Ave. Wearing a treatment gown, the woman was sitting on a treatment table when Jung pulled her off the table, restrained her against the table and raped her, according to a court affidavit by Vancouver police Detective Barbara Knoeppel.

Jung’s trial is set for Jan. 26.

Jung first received an East Asian medicine practitioner license from the Washington Department of Health in August 2000. Jung’s license was last renewed in February and was set to expire in March 2015.

Health officials have not taken any previous enforcement action against Jung’s license.
