Published: December 30, 2014, 4:00pm

Students and staff at Fort Vancouver High School will welcome Anthony Jackson, vice president for education for Asia Society, on Jan. 7.

Asia Society is a nonprofit educational group that promotes mutual understanding and strengthening of partnerships between Asian nations and the United States.

Jackson’s visit will focus on the school’s Center for International Studies, a magnet program that begins in September.

Fort is in its second year of planning for the Center for International Studies. The program will develop students’ global competence by asking them to investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate their ideas, and make a difference in the community and the world. All Fort students will participate in the program.

Fort is the only school in the Pacific Northwest with membership in the Asia Society International Studies Schools Network. Learn more at http://bit.ly/13RgIaQ.
