Two people were seriously hurt Thursday when a sports car and tractor-trailer crashed near the intersection of Northwest Pacific Rim Boulevard and Payne Road in Camas.

Witnesses reported the car was eastbound on Pacific Rim Boulevard shortly before 8:45 p.m. when it hit another eastbound vehicle, crossed the center line and crashed into an oncoming truck, according to a bulletin from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department.

The two occupants of the sports car were conscious on arrival of CWFD crews but had severe injuries and required extrication from the vehicle, the bulletin said. The single occupant of the first vehicle that was struck was transported in a third ambulance with what appeared to be minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

There was an initial concern about a fuel leak from the crash, but Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said the leak was determined to not be serious enough to be classified as a hazardous materials incident.
