Girls basketball: Woodland 38, Montesano 35

The Beavers grinded out a championship by rallying in the fourth quarter to beat Montesano in the 1A district final at W.F. West.

Woodland stays perfect on the season at 22-0, but coach Glen Flannagan said it wasn’t easy with shots not falling.

“It was a grinder,” he said. “We just couldn’t hit our shots, and we had good looks.”

Woodland was ahead 29-20 after three quarters, but Montesano was able to rally and take a lead.

“In the fourth we kind of went cold, but we bounced back,” Flanagan said.Madison Sorenson had eight points and nine rebounds for the Beavers, who advance to the regionals next week against Blaine.
