TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A Tacoma, Wash., police spokeswoman says an officer used a patrol car to intentionally hit a man who tried to run away.
Spokeswoman Loretta Cool said the man, believed to be about 25, was taken to a hospital Wednesday night after complaining of leg pain. She did not know his condition.
The News Tribune reports that Cool said she did not immediately know why the officer approached the man but she said a gun from the man was recovered at the scene. He ran a few blocks after he was hit.
The spokeswoman says the officer will be on administrative leave while the use of force is investigated.
