Rising demand from move-up buyers helped boost homebuilding activity substantially in unincorporated parts of Clark County in 2013, according to statistics released Tuesday.

The county issued 908 permits to build houses last year, up from 577 permits handed out in 2012 and up from 348 permits issued in 2011.

Home construction, traditionally one of the largest sectors of Clark County’s economy, picked up speed in 2013 as sales of existing homes improved and homeowners emerged from underwater mortgages.
