GLADSTONE, Ore. — The Gladstone City Council voted Tuesday to allow Patrick Clark to keep his Siberian lynx until June while a state senator pushes for a change Oregon law on exotic pets.
The Oregonian reports that Clark has had the 16-year-old cat since it was a kitten. The 35-pound lynx named Sosha has been de-clawed.
Clark’s wife, Molly, told councilors that Sosha helps with her husband’s post-traumatic stress disorder. Clark is a Marine veteran who served in Somalia and Desert Storm.
State Sen. Alan Olsen of Canby says he’ll try to amend a 2009 exotic pet law so the state Department of Agriculture could grant exceptions.
