Thomas’ 19 lead Mercer past Kennesaw State, 83-46

MACON, Ga. (AP) — Bud Thomas scored 19 points while Mercer limited Kennesaw State to just 14 first-half points en route to a comfortable 83-46 victory Friday night.

The Owls led for the first 10 minutes of the game and shot 43 percent from the field, but managed to take just 37 shots.

Langston Hall tied the game with a layup midway through the first half, sparking a 22-3 run by the Bears to close out the first half, allowing Kennesaw State only a 3-pointer by Jordan Montgomery with 1:12 left in the half.

Thomas shot 7 of 14 from the field and was 5 of 10 from 3-point range. Ike Nwamu scored 16 points off the bench for Mercer (13-5, 4-1 Atlantic Sun). Hall added 14 and Daniel Coursey 11.

Kennesaw State (4-14, 1-4 Atlantic Sun) was led by Delbert Love’s 11 points.
