Southern Miss wins against Louisiana Tech 80-71

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Daveon Boardingham scored 20 points and Southern Miss outlasted Louisiana Tech 80-71 on Sunday.

Michael Craig added 17 and grabbed 12 rebounds for Tech while the team made 28-of-38 free throw attempts.

Southern Miss (16-3, 3-1 Conference USA) carried an eight point advantage leading into the second half, outscoring Louisiana Tech 47-39.

Two Alex Hamilton free throws midway through the second half put Louisiana Tech (15-4, 3-1) back in the game leading 59-58. But Southern Miss responded with an 8-0 run capped by a Craig dunk to go up 71-62 at 4:38.

Down the final stretch, Louisiana Tech inched to within 5 points, but Neil Watson’s 4-for-4 effort from the line sealed the win for the Golden Eagles.

The Bulldogs outshot Southern Miss from the floor, but were outrebounded 48-26, including a big 19-5 gap on the offensive glass.

Hamilton led Tech with 19 points.
