Letter: Republicans don’t get a fair break

The Columbian
Published: January 19, 2014, 4:00pm

Enough is enough. The Jan. 8 “Press Talk” column, “Bad company till the day we die?,” is the last straw.

Republicans have never had a fair break from The Columbian, but the character assassination has become extremely vicious since Clark County’s Boys in the Backroom lost control of county government for the first time in at least 30 years.

The Columbian as the publicity arm for the boys seems to have brought in the perfect editor to head up the attack. He is a person whose example of local news reporting was provided by the Daley machine of Chicago, one of the oldest and most vicious political machines in the country.

The attacks on commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke, and on Don Benton, that run every day should by now have become a joke. I hope Columbian readers can see the fear behind these attacks. The boys will do anything to regain control.
