CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Kurt Busch puts his chances at “70 percent” at running the Indianapolis 500 this year because of recent developments that have pushed a potential program along.

He’s got the blessing of Stewart-Haas Racing co-owners Gene Haas and Tony Stewart, and Haas said he’d be interested in being involved in Busch’s program if the driver inquired.

So what’s standing in the way?

Busch says he’s got to figure out if he’s doing it for fun and as a challenge, or if running both the Indy 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 on the same day is a business decision.

He tested last year with Andretti Autosport and completed rookie orientation, and says if he runs the 500, he’d like to do it with Michael Andretti.
