SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A Eugene, Ore., man arrested after he was bitten by a Marion County sheriff’s police dog says the dog did a good job but he wants a rematch — and he predicts he could win the next round.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Baldridge says 35-year-old Joshua Stephenson told a deputy, in his words, “You have a great dog. He did his job very well, but next time in a fight I could take him.”
KGW-TV reports that Baldridge says Stephenson was arrested Friday for investigation of DUI, resisting arrest, endangerment, driving with a revoked license and interfering with a police animal.
The man tangled with a dog named “Yo” after sheriff’s officers say he refused to surrender. The dog seized the man’s leg. Baldridge says the man continued to resist and tried to pry the dog’s jaws open. The spokesman says the deputy and the dog together were able to take the man into custody.
