Vancouver Volcanoes guard Andre Murray, who won the International Basketball League MVP this season, has signed with Bambitious Nara of the Basketball Japan League.

Murray led the IBL in three categories, averaging 34.5 points, 8.2 assists and 3.8 steals per game.

“I’m really proud of the way Andre played this season,” said Volcanoes coach Joe Navarro, who has worked to help establish a team in Japan. “He dedicated his off season to get in the best shape of his life, and he did. He’s going to have a great season in Nara. He’s an impossible match-up in that league, and I know he has been wanting to get to Japan for a while.”

Former Volcano Chehales Tapscott will also play with Nara. The 2013 IBL MVP has been averaging 30.8 points per game for Rockhampton in Australia.
