Letter: Officials achieving a bang-up failure

Another Fourth of July has passed. More outrageous explosions, screaming fire bombs, bouncing M-80s and the like.

Maybe there were some people following the rules, but they were drowned out by the barking of frightened dogs, screaming of small children, and the slamming of doors and windows trying to keep the noise at bay. It didn’t work.

I guess if you can’t make them stop, I think I will just join them. A few trips out of town to lay in a really good supply of “big stuff.” Next summer we can all gather outside of the offices of the Clark County commissioners and the Vancouver City Council as they have decision-making meetings, or whatever they are. More than likely just trying to make deep decisions on how much to raise each other’s pay and benefits.

No one seems to care who sets off what, when or where. Some start the first of the month and just keep going. So next year let’s all meet there and start by the first of the month. June 1 that is.
