Letter: Limit non-educational technology

With a 20 percent dropout rate, there is a multitude of kids who failed to graduate high school in 2013. These are saddening statistics. And do you know why they failed? It’s technology.

Electronics are addicting and draw away time from your learning. If kids fail in school, then our economy will stop functioning. Educated people are needed to hold jobs. If they aren’t educated, unemployed people will turn the U.S. into a nation of poverty. We kids need to turn off the video games and get back to reality.

One solution is to limit your gaming time. Give yourself, or if you are a parent. give your child two hours each week to use technology that isn’t educational. This way, you’ll still have time for exercise, rest and homework. This would fix the problem because cutting down on your time playing on electronic gadgets will give you more time for your education.

Also, you could limit yourself to only certain games that you’ll play. You don’t want kids playing vicious, addicting games. Also, you should want games to play once in a while that help your learning. This would give you access to technology while not hurting your education.

It’s time to jump-start your education and stop our country from crumbling into ruin. Use these solutions to neutralize the influence of technology.
