Shumway — Four young women from area high schools were awarded $1,500 each in scholarships from the YWCA Clark County on June 1. They were all named Young Women of Achievement after demonstrating “strong leadership qualities in alignment with YWCA values,” according to a statement from the nonprofit agency, which exists to fight racism and empower women, according to its motto. Cailyn Grindy of Camas High School won the Soroptimist International of Southwest Washington Scholarship; Lindsay Weinberg, also of Camas High School, received the Soroptimist International of Vancouver Scholarship; Reem Sabha of Mountain View High School received the Donna Roberge Scholarship; and Samantha Adams of La Center High School received the Friends of the YWCA Young Women of Achievement Scholarship.
