BATTLE GROUND — It was not just a night of serious toe-tapping but also one of fundraising for the Country Shindig Concert and Dance. Held Feb. 14 at the Battle Ground Community Center, the event raised $3,400 for Battle Ground’s Veteran Memorial Project.

The Battle Ground Lions Club was the presenting sponsor for the event, along with many other businesses and individuals.

Kiwanis Park will be the future site of the Veterans Memorial, which will honor local veterans who have died in the line of duty. This place of honor will provide the community an area for private reflection as well as a gathering place for events honoring the fallen, the city says.

Funding for the Veterans Memorial project is solely dependent on public donations and contributions of in-kind services and materials.

For more information about the project, including names of veterans, concept plans and donation information, go to the Veterans Memorial Project Page or contact Parks & Recreation Director Debbi Hanson at 360-342-5385.
