Clark College to host prosthetic arm design competition

The public is invited to watch 160 middle and high school students from Evergreen, Vancouver and Hockinson school districts compete in a prosthetic arm design challenge at the Southwest Washington MESA, for Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement, Day Engineering Design Competition at Clark College from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.

The competition will showcase teams’ designs for a prosthetic limb for children in developing countries who have lost arms to land mines. The winning team will advance to the statewide MESA Day competition sponsored by Microsoft at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond.

The Oregon Museum of Science & Industry will host a Family Science Festival with 12 tables of free, engaging activities.

Lunch is provided to MESA students only. Clark’s food service is not open on weekends.

Parking is free.
