Letter: Decommission out-of-control CIA

The Columbian
Published: March 28, 2014, 5:00pm

U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., revealed that CIA torture programs officially began in 2002, yet members of Congress were told about programs more than four years later. CIA staff later removed access to more than 870 pages of documents, and additionally 50 more documents, in 2010. Finally, CIA staff made false claims that congressional committee staff obtained documents illegally and filed a crime report.

Congress recognizes no CIA claims of “privilege.” Congress has complete legal rights to review documents of any government agency. Any claim of “privilege” by any governmental branch is a bold announcement that they will not obey our laws: U.S. Constitution, Speech and Debate clause, and Fourth Amendment, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Executive Order 12333.

This is one more confirmation that the CIA is out of control. These Americanized Gestapo-KGB agencies with their black operations and unlimited funding are the most dangerous threats to global societies.

Abolish and defund the CIA.
