Letter: Suicide affects those left behind

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for youth ages 15 to 24. This is a serious thing when considering taking your own life or not. It really affects people in a big way.

They don’t realize how valuable their life really is and how big of an impact this has on people. Maybe if people just stopped and thought about how other people would be affected, they could realize suicide isn’t worth it. What about your best friend — you may not realize how much you would be hurting them.

At my school, we have had a teen suicide in the past. People didn’t know what to think but they were all really affected by the choice that person had made. Everyone realized how worthy he was and what it was like without him around. It was not the same. Everything was different.

There are many causes to suicide but a major one is being bullied. Now there is cyberbullying. Sixty-eight percent of cyberbullying is through Facebook. Just think about how many people there are who are being cyberbullied as there are around 4,600 suicides a year for teens.
