Letter: Speak out to take power from bully

In my opinion, everyone has bullied or has been bullied. Sometimes we say things or do things but we don’t realize how it can hurt others. One out of 10 teens drops out of school because of bullying and 160,000 teens skip school every day to avoid bullying.

No one enjoys being bullied but some have a higher tolerance for it, and some hide their emotions or keep them inside. Remember that bullying can lead to someone doing self-harm or even suicide. Before you start thinking about harming yourself, try to think about why that person is bullying you and what you can do to prevent them from doing it again. Get help from a trusted adult. Even try to talk it out with the bully. Don’t be afraid. Stand up for yourself.

We all have done it but that doesn’t make bullying OK. Think before you speak. Let’s get rid of bullying.
