SHERIDAN, Ore. — A man who was apparently beaten in the head with a hammer at a Sheridan assisted living home died Thursday when he was taken off life support.

Ronald McKenzie was found bleeding on the floor of his room Wednesday at the Deer Meadow Assisted Living Facility.

The Yamhill County sheriff’s office says a hammer was found next to him and it appeared he had been hit multiple times.

KOIN reports detectives arrested another resident of the home, 51-year-old Nathan Brewer, for investigation of assault.

The 51-year-old McKenzie had been living at the home after surviving being hit by a train in 2010.
