Portland Police investigate Saturday night gunfire

PORTLAND — Portland Police gang enforcement officers are investigating shots fired Saturday night in Northeast Portland.The Oregonian reports the incident adds to a growing list of suspected gang-related shootings in Portland.

Callers reported hearing gunshots at 9:48 p.m. on Saturday, just east of Grand Avenue. Witnesses saw two vehicles leaving the scene.

Police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers found evidence of gunfire, but no victims. He says no one with gunshot wounds checked into area hospitals.

In a separate incident Saturday night, police say occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire just blocks away from David Douglas High School.
