King’s Way Christian volleyball clinches state berth

Kari Staples had 46 kills and 16 digs to the King’s Way Christian volleyball won two matches Wednesday to advance to the Class 1A district championship match.

The Knights beat Hoquiam 25-20, 25-21, 25-15 and Montesano 18-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 to clinch a berth to next week’s 1A state tournament.

King’s Way Christian will face Kalama on Saturday for the district title.

Julia Sprowls had 28 digs, Brianna Clark had 56 assists and Lindsey Nein added 29 digs for King’s Way Christian.

La Center rallied from a first-round loss to Montesano to beat Hoquiam and stay alive in the consolation bracket.

The Wildcats will play Castle Rock on Saturday for a berth to state.

La Center lost to Montesano 25-14, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16, then beat Hoquiam 25-10, 21-25, 25-15, 25-19.

Emily Muffet had 28 assists, Abby England had 46 digs, Maddie Stimmel had 19 kills and Taylor Entenman added 26 assists for La Center.
