A Vancouver man who called 911 Sunday ended up being arrested by police after they determined that he allegedly raped a woman Friday.

On Sunday, police responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at a residence in the Barberton area, where they met Jamal Ali, 46, who’s also known as Jovan Lieven. Ali said that he hadn’t been able to contact a woman he knew and was worried about her.

Several deputies responded and went inside the house, where they found a woman’s dresser damaged and other belongings strewn around the house, according to documents filed in Clark County Superior Court.

When police began to question Ali about the damage, he became upset and began to call the deputies names. According to a court affidavit, Ali told police, “You’re stupid. You’ll never make detective because you watch too much TV.”

When the victim returned to her home Sunday she told police Ali had raped her Friday at her home, according to court documents. She said he also threatened her and told her he had ties to the Islamic State, court documents say.

Ali was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of second-degree malicious mischief, felony harassment, second-degree rape and intimidating a public servant. He’s being held on $250,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court Friday.
