Letter: Broadcast effects of binge drinking

I am writing a research paper on teenage binge drinking and it has come to my attention that some believe that lowering the drinking age to 18 will help reduce the amount of alcohol that teenagers consume. This is pointless in my eyes. I believe that the drinking age is set at its age for a scientific reason, and there is proof that a lowered drinking age will only cause more fatal driving accidents relating to alcohol.

Personally, I believe that if there is going to be any hope to lower the amount of binge drinking, it is going to be by raising awareness of the negative effects of it, starting with parents teaching safe drinking at home.
