Central Park — Students from 22 regional schools showed off their science skills during Clark College’s annual Elementary Science Olympiad earlier this month. With 328 third- through fifth-grade students competing in teams in a number of science-themed events, it was the best attended event in its seven-year history, according to a press release. The kids took part in five fun but educational tasks, including creating rockets fueled with a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, and learning about physics by finding ways to drop an egg without breaking it. A team from the CAM Academy got top scores in three events, and Chief Umtuch Middle School team won in two.
