Mixed martial arts is not Cory Vom Baur’s top priority these days. But he is looking forward to an opportunity to be center stage on Saturday in Tacoma.

Vom Baur, a special education tacher in Camas, will take on Victor Henry at the Emerald Queen Casino in the main event of the debut for Super Fight League in the United States.

The five-round bantamweight mixed martial arts fight will headline a show at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma.

Vom Baur, 28, enters the fight between 135-pounders with seven wins and two losses as a professional MMA fighter. Henry, 27, is from Hollywood, Calif. He has a 7-1 record.

“I am excited about this opportunity. Victor Henry is very tough,” Vom Baur said.

Super Fight League is a professional MMA organization formed in 2012 in India.

Vom Baur won a state wrestling title in 2005 as a senior at Evergreen High School then wrestled at the University of Wyoming. He is the new head wrestling coach for Camas High School and also coaches a youth wrestling program in Camas. He said Saturday’s fight isn’t about creating future opportunities to compete in mixed martial arts.

“I fight because I enjoy it and I love competing,” he said. “I’m not going to speculate about what might happen should I win this fight.”

The chance to compete for a Super Fight League America championship belt is great motivation, Vom Baur said.

The show starts with undercard bouts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $35 to $100 and are for sale through Ticketmaster locations and at the Emerald Queen Casino box office.

In the other featured fight, California native Colleen Schneider (5-4) will face Brenda Gonzales (5-1) in a women’s bantamweight bout.

The rest of the card features Northwest fighters: Bobby McIntyre (1-0) vs. Gary Winslow (2-3), Mike Ross (0-2) vs. Trent Tyler (3-4), Hadley Griffith (1-3) vs. Cheryl Chan (0-2), Michael Marcink (0-1) vs. Adam Walkemeyer (1-0), Raven Guice (1-2) vs. Jesse Hardenbrook (debut) and Mike Devose (0-1) vs. Cleo Anderson (debut).
