Try This: Annual festival full of flavor

Northwest Organic Farms offers wide variety of garlic, tomatoes to enjoy

Are there different levels of garlic flavor? At the Northwest Organic Farms’ annual Garlic Festival, 10 different types of garlic will be available for visitors to taste. There will also be 20 different varieties of tomatoes ready for visitors’ taste buds. Washington State University master gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions, along with bluegrass music, arts and craft vendors and children’s activities.

When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

2. Celebrating the past

Two Rivers Heritage Museum hosts Heritage Days, featuring free admission to the Camas-Washougal historical museum along with demonstrations of blacksmithing, Model A cars, and spinning and rug weaving using scraps from the Pendleton Woolen Mills. The event includes an ice cream social with a hot dog lunch and raffle. In the museum, visitors can explore the early history of fabric making from wool-carding tools to floor looms.

3. One last bite of sausage

Visitors can make a few more memories at the final Vancouver Sausage Fest. Entertainment on the main stage includes music, dancers and performing artists, and at 8 tonight, organizers will show “The Lego Movie,” rated PG. Carnival rides, a beer garden, craft and food vendors, and a festival book sale at Marian Hall will take place throughout the weekend.

When: 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

4. Community Expo

Meet local 911 dispatchers, firefighters, police officers and more during the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency Community Expo. Children can learn about safety with hands-on activities, see antique fire trucks, bomb squad robots, tour the dispatch center, and meet search and rescue animals. There will be demonstrations by the sheriff’s K-9 team.

5. 1950s music of ‘The Identical’

Twin brothers (both played by Blake Rayne) are separated at birth during the Great Depression. One becomes iconic rock ‘n’ roll star Drexel Hemsley, while Ryan Wade struggles between his love for music and pleasing his evangelist father (Ray Liotta). Family secrets are tested when Ryan enters an impersonator contest for his idol, Hemsley. “The Identical” is rated PG.
