OK, let’s cut to the chase. The real reason there is opposition to coal, petroleum and wheat trains going through the Columbia River Gorge is that people who bought homes next to the tracks don’t want trains to use them. It has nothing to do with safety, health or environmental issues, although those red herrings are being used to fight and delay increased train traffic. Hey, if you don’t like the noise of planes, don’t buy a house at the end of the runway. Stop the whining and get over it.
