A 9-year-old girl injured in a crash near Battle Ground last week remains in critical condition, according to hospital staff.

Agatha Konovalchik was taken by Life Flight helicopter Sept. 10 to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland following a crash involving an alleged drunken driver.

“The chances of that good and full recovery are just not there anymore,” said family spokesman Bob Carlson, the pastor at Brush Prairie Baptist Church. “This is not where they want to be.”

In the next few days, Agatha Konovalchik’s medical team should have a clearer picture of her prognosis and the family’s options, he said.

The three family members were traveling south on Northeast 182nd Avenue in a minivan at about 6:45 p.m. Sept. 10 when they were struck by a westbound pickup, according to court documents.

The pickup’s driver, Shane Turner, 31, of Battle Ground faces three counts of vehicular assault.

Friends of the Konovalchiks’ are raising money online to cover the family’s expenses. To donate, visit gofundme.com/efh8ho.
