Letter: Adopt new charter for county

The Columbian
Published: September 15, 2014, 5:00pm

Gridlock and bickering by both parties nearly caused me to quit voting.

Since political fighting hurts us locally, statewide and nationally, I was astounded to see healthy bipartisan teamwork by freeholders in crafting the new Clark County home rule charter. Just look at the wide support from Republicans (like Garry Lucas, Joe Zarelli, Ann Rivers, Marc Boldt) and Democrats (like the late Val Ogden and Dan Ogden, Pat Jollota, Jim Moeller) compared to the narrowly like-minded group opposing the charter.

I support this new charter because it not only strengthens citizen voice and representation, but for the bipartisan cooperation that is needed for a strong community. Vote Charter Yes.
