PORTLAND — The pit bull that killed another dog last week on a Portland street car will likely be returned to its owner in Colorado.

The dog remains in the Multnomah County Animal Control shelter. Director Mike Oswald says the 16-year-old girl who had the dog with her last Wednesday has not claimed the dog.

The dog had an embedded microchip that identified an owner in Longmont, Colo., who wants it back.

The Oregonian reports the owner reported the dog missing in June. There’s no indication how it reached Portland.

Police say there’s no decision yet on whether to charge the girl who had the pit bull when it fatally bit the head of a Pomeranian name Lady.
