The Columbian
Published:

Aaron Shoup’s arm and a four-run sixth inning powered Woodland past Ridgefield 6-2 on Friday.

Shoup pitched six innings, striking out 11 and walking two. He allowed five hits and no earned runs in a 114-pitch outing.

Trevor Huddleston struck out the side in the seventh inning to ice the win.

Nine Woodland batters got at least one hit as the Beavers had 11 for the game.

But it was three walks that set the table for Woodland’s rally in the sixth inning.

Trailing 2-1 with two outs, Woodland got bases-loaded singles from Huddleston, Cody Shepherd and Tanner Froeber to take a 5-2 lead.

Woodland leads the 2A Greater St. Helens League at 5-2. Ridgefield is in third place at 4-4.

Camas soccer clinches

Bennett Lehner scored two second-half goals to send the Camas boys soccer team to a 3-0 win Mountain View, clinching the 4A Greater St. Helens League title for the Papermakers.

Danny Wing gave Camas a 1-0 lead in the first half off an assist from Cayne Cardwell.

The win improved Camas to 9-0 in league play and 27 points. The Papermakers can’t be caught by second-place Union (4-3-2, 14 points) or Evergreen (4-3-2, 14).
