Boeing unmanned aircraft subsidiary Insitu participated in a U.S. Coast Guard demonstration last month in the Arctic region that was designed to evaluate the use unmanned technologies in remote search and rescue missions and to simulate a coordinated response to emergency rescue situations, the Bingen-based company said in a statement this week.

Insitu launched its ScanEagle unmanned aircraft from Oliktok Point at the North Slope of Alaska. The successful test demonstrated the ScanEagle’s success in delivering real-time imagery and proving its ability to maximize Coast Guard efforts, the company said.

Other participants in the demonstration included ConocoPhillips, Era Helicopters, the Department of Energy, the Federal Aviation Administration and the North Slope Borough, Insitu said.
