DAMASCUS, Ore. — Firefighters managed to extinguish a blaze that spread quickly and engulfed a commercial building in Damascus.

The Oregonian reports crews had responded to a brush fire near the parking area of the building Tuesday.

The brush fire grew quickly, reaching the building and its attic area. Part of the roof had collapsed before crews were able to put out the fire.

Five businesses occupy the building. A Clackamas Fire District spokesman says at least two of the businesses were destroyed in the fire, Damascus Physical Therapy and Kelaye Concrete.

Investigators believe the fire started when a pickup truck backed into a parking space and made contact with the bushes, sparking the dry vegetation.

No injuries were reported.
