Officers found a 57-year-old woman dead Saturday night with apparent stab wounds in her Puyallup home after reports of an argument there, according to police.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her Sunday as Carol Young. They had not yet done an autopsy to determine how she died.

Police Chief Bryan Jeter gave this account: Someone called police to report what sounded like an argument that may have gotten physical at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Valley Avenue Northeast.

Officers arrived about 11:30 p.m., and spoke with a 57-year-old man who lived with the woman at the residence reported.

He told the officers there was no problem, and when police went inside the apartment to confirm that, they found the woman’s body in a bedroom, with stab wounds to her chest and neck.

Jeter said it was still early in the investigation, but that detectives suspect they have recovered the knife used.

Police are investigating Young’s death as a possible homicide. They arrested the man, and booked him into Pierce County Jail.

The News Tribune does not generally name suspects before they have been charged with a crime.
