Clark women find their shot in win over Yakima Valley

A day after shooting just 27 percent from the field in a loss to Walla Walla on Sunday, the Clark College women’s basketball team found its touch Monday afternoon in a 71-59 win over Yakima Valley at the O’Connell Center.

Clark (6-3) made 42 percent of its shots on Monday led by Livia Strandberg, who scored 16 points on 6 of 6 shooting plus 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. She also had eight rebounds and two assists.

Caylee Newsome had 13 points and six rebounds, Kendyl Cone had 12 points, and Breann Nueku had 10 points and six rebounds. (Click here for complete boxscore)

The game was tied seven times before Clark pulled away in a 24-12 third quarter.

This was the second time this season Clark has beaten Yakima Valley, and they could meet for a third time this weekend at the Walla Walla Crossover Tournament.
