Clark men open Lane tournament with win

Penguin women win in Walla Walla

Four players scored in double figures as the Clark College men’s basketball team beat Treasure Valley 89-66 on Thursday at a crossover tournament hosted by Lane Community College in Eugene.

Bryan Berg made all of his shots en route to a team-high 18 points. He was 5 for 5 from the field with three 3 pointers and 5 for 5 from the line. Berg also had a four assists.

Clark will play host Lane at 4 p.m. Friday in a matchup of two 7-1 teams.

Clark had assists on 22 of 30 baskets, with Darrius Mathis had supplying seven assists. Glenn Baral had 16 points.

WOMEN: Clark 87, Everett 62 — Livia Strandberg had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Clark defeated Everett in the first round of the Walla Walla Crossover tournament.

Brean Nueku also had 16 points and six rebounds, and Molly Franklin had 15 points. Shantel Aleki had nine rebounds as the Penguins outrebounded Everett 65-35.

Coach Al Aldridge praised his team’s defensive effort, which led to the rebounds.

“We defended really well, and that held them to one and done,” Aldridge said.

Clark (7-3) next plays South division rival Clackamas (8-3) at 5 p.m. today.
