Freshman Ahna Burney had 14 points and Lexi Burney added six points and 12 rebounds as Evergreen held off the Timberwolves.

“Ahna Burney is an exciting young freshman who is going to be a good player,” Evergreen coach Jay Foreman said. “We’re going to be all right if we can just mesh. The athleticism is good, we’re just young.”

Keyonah Kirkland added seven points and six rebounds for Evergreen, which jumped out to a 21-13 lead after one quarter and never trailed after that.

Amy Gould led Heritage with nine points.

“We focused on shutting down Amy Gould,” Foreman said. “She finished with three 3-pointers, and that was it. That was important because she’s a good player.”
