Letter: Those who obey law aren’t a danger

I have seen a significant increase in the letters here recently talking about why we should have more gun control. Some from out of state, I am guessing, all trying to get in their letters to make sure they get their Christmas bonus from Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City.

That aside, why is it that we are still pretending like more laws will somehow solve all the issues with crime when the most recent events happened where all those laws and more are already on the books? California and Chicago have everything on the anti-gun wish list and yet it did nothing, exactly what every person who is educated on the issue has said since day one.

On a personal note, I recently purchased a rifle from a gentleman in Oregon. Being the law-abiding citizen that I am, I went to Oregon for the background check required there for a private party transfer. I waited four hours with 80 others for this “instant” background check and I can see why everyone is worried, all the “jihadist/terrorist/criminals” waiting with me appeared to be grandparents and families with kids — so sneaky dressing up like that. I am sure many, many targets were saved that day.
