Battle Ground High School is hosting a free event to help seniors and college-bound students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA form is required to apply for federal financial assistance, including state grants, school loans and scholarships for college.

College Goal Washington will be 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 14 in the College and Career Center at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St., Battle Ground. It is open to all college-bound students and their families, regardless of where they currently attend school or which college they plan to attend. Families can get one-on-one assistance completing the FAFSA. No registration is required. For details, call Kevin Doyle at 360-885-6598.

Family financial information is key in completing the form. Students and parents are encouraged to attend together and to bring state-issued identification, a social security card and financial documents such as 2014 tax returns.

Students should complete the FAFSA application even if they are unsure of their college plans. The form takes about an hour to complete.

College Goal Washington is a statewide effort to help students and families complete the FAFSA.

Students who miss the Battle Ground event can attend College Goal Washington at Washington State University Vancouver at 1 p.m. Jan. 23.
