The Oregon Health and Science University Brain Institute is once again hosting a series of lectures about the brain.

This year’s series, “The Infinite Brain,” will take a deeper look at the human brain’s consciousness and explore the brain as it relates to our sense of selves, free will, decision making and learning. Also, scientists on the leading edge of Alzheimer’s and concussion research will discuss the latest findings.

All lectures begin at 7 p.m. at Newmark Theater, 1111 S.W. Broadway. General admission tickets are $27; lecture series ticket packs are also available.

Here is the lecture schedule and topics:

  • March 9: “The Quest for Consciousness,” Christof Koch, chief scientific officer at Allen Institute for Brain Science.

  • March 31: “Alzheimer’s Disease is a World Affair,” Dr. Nicolas Bazan, director of the Neuroscience Center for Excellence at Louisiana State University.

  • May 11: “Touching a Nerve: The Self as Brain,” Patricia Churchland, philosophy professor at University of California San Diego.

  • May 18: “Breaking the Brain: The Impact of Concussion at Any Age,” Robert Stern, professor of neurology and neurosurgery, anatomy and neurobiology at Boston University School of Medicine.

  • June 1: “Art and the Learning Brain,” Mariale Hardiman, vice dean of academic affairs, professor of education and clinical director of the Neuro-Education Initiative at Johns Hopkins University School of Education.
