The state’s WorkSource system is launching a new initiative connecting midlevel career professionals and college graduates to jobs, although it’s unclear whether the Employment Security Department will create a position in Vancouver for the new program.

The Employment Security Department is funding 12 new positions to help white-collar workers with college degrees or professional skills make career changes. The new employees, called Career Pathway Navigators, will guide clients through WorkSource services and match them with compatible employers.

In Southwest Washington, the new employee will either be in the WorkSource office in Vancouver or Kelso, said Kristin Alexander, a communications consultant for the department. “Candidates will be able to state a preference, and a decision will be made when the candidate is selected,” she said by email.

The department expects to complete hiring by April and has funded the positions through June 2017. To apply, visit esd.wa.gov/esdjobs and search for “Career Pathway Navigator.”

The department operates 68 WorkSource centers throughout the state.
