COLTON, Ore. — The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says deputies shot and killed a man who charged at them with a hatchet.

KGW reports that the man was shot in Colton, about 35 miles south of Portland, on Sunday.

The sheriff’s office says deputies responded on Sunday morning after receiving a 911 call about a stabbing.

A sheriff’s spokesman says the stabbing report turned out to be false and no stabbing victims were found at the home.

Deputies say the man did not listen to their commands to drop the weapon.

His name has not been released.
