TACOMA — A citizen’s advisory group is recommending raising the toll charge on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge by 50 cents this summer and another 50 cents in 2016.

The state Transportation Commission will decide how much tolls should go up on the 8-year-old bridge over Puget Sound.

But the News Tribune says the commission has a history of following the citizens’ recommendation. The citizen’s group voted on the increase Wednesday night.

Tolls are collected on the eastbound bridge and currently range from $4.50 to $6.50 for a passenger car, depending on how drivers pay.
