A 27-year-old man was listed in satisfactory condition at a hospital Monday after he accidentally shot himself in the leg Sunday.

Joshua B. Pierce, who has no listed address, was walking in the area of Canyon Creek and Fly Creek outside of Amboy when he apparently slipped and fell, Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Fred Neiman said.

Pierce’s gun, a .38-caliber revolver stored in a holster on his belt, went off, and he was shot in the right leg, Neiman said.

Pierce, who was alone at the time, drove himself to the Chelatchie Prairie General Store, at Northeast 424th Street and Yale Bridge Road. He got there at about 5:30 p.m. and was met by medical personnel who took him to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The gunshot wound was ruled an accidental injury and the case was closed, Neiman said.
